S. Wallace Edwards & Sons Announced as Winner in Second Annual Good Food Awards
SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 23, 2012) – S. Wallace Edwards & Sons announced today that its Surry Farms Surryano Ham has been selected as one of the 99 winners in the second annual Good Food Awards, presented at the awards ceremony on January 13, 2012 at the San Francisco Ferry Building. Sam W. Edwards III, President and Cure Master, was awarded in the company of fellow crafters, their food communities, judges and media attending the standing room only, 400-person gathering. The evening was a celebration of regional diversity and momentum, energy and collaboration surrounding a maturing artisan food movement. Edwards and the other winning American food producers were honored for enhancing the country’s agricultural landscape by strengthening their own local food communities and creating food and drink that epitomize American craftsmanship.
The second annual Good Food Awards offers a platform for producers to take their craft to the next level, providing real business benefits and a network of like-minded peers in the form of the Good Food Guild. Keynote speaker Ruth Reichl was quoted, “This is our chance to thank the tireless efforts of artisan producers for giving us the America we once dreamed we could have.”
This is the second year in a row that Edwards’ Berkshire Breed Specific Certified Humane Dry Cured Surryano Ham has been selected as a winner in the Charcuterie Division, an honor he credits to his family tradition and recipes dating back to the original Jamestown Settlement. “It’s great to see the small food producers from across the country being recognized by Seedling Projects and The Good Foods Awards, especially with some of the challenges we face in today’s business environment. Who knew that when my grandfather started this business 86 years ago that we’d still be at it, and the award is really a tribute to him, my father, and the dedication and care we put into our products every day.”, Edwards said.
