Huge Update from several local heroes in the culinary world! Chef Patrick Evans-Hylton explains how Team Chesapeake performed at the World Food Championships:
IT’S A WRAP – TEAM CHESAPEAKE BAY IS LEAVING LAS VEGAS — I am so proud of my team of chefs – Chef Travis Brust of Williamsburg Inn, Chef Michael A Farrell of Still Worldly Eclectic Tapas, and Chef Jerry Weihbrecht of Zoes Restaurant. All three made it through the first day and into the finals in the Chefs Challenge of the World Food Championships in Las Vegas. Chef Travis won FIRST PLACE in the Chefs Challenge – beating out scores of very talented culinary professionals from across the globe, including several Food Network stars and a finalist in one of Gordon Ramsey’s television challenges.
THIS MEANS THAT VIRGINIA IS ON THE WORLD’S CULINARY MAP – Chef Travis rocked it with some of our state’s favorite foods and foodways, pairing rockfish, oysters, and Edwards Surryano ham with other ingredients.
I cannot underscore the importance of this win.
Chef Travis went on to place third in the Final Table, another remarkable feat.
Thank you everyone for all your support. I will have a full report with photos and recipes coming up.
And please continue to support these fine chefs, and all the wonderfully talented chefs and their restaurants in our region. Together we can get the attention our region deserves.
Love to all, Chef Patrick
Proud Capta
